This production was part of a three-month placement with the production manager working on both Sing Yer Heart Out for the Lads & The Wizard of Oz. I had contacted the production manager directly as we worked together on a previous production. On this part of my placement, I attended one of the design meetings and the two model showings to the creatives and theatre staff. I came in during the fit up and helped where necessary, along with watching how everything came together. Once the production was up and running, I took on the role of follow spot cover. Allowing the spot operators to have a day or show off where they would be encouraged to shadow another department or role.
When Dorothy runs away from her home in Kansas with her faithful dog Toto, she’s caught up in a terrifying cyclone and finds herself in the strange and magical land of Oz.
There she encounters a host of curious and enchanting characters. Accompanied by a Scarecrow, a Tin Man and a Cowardly Lion, can Dorothy escape the Wicked Witch of the West, reach the Emerald City and find the mysterious Wizard of Oz?
